Nissan Motor, the Japanese car manufacturer, had introduced Nissan Qashqai for the first time at the 2006 Paris Motor Show and launched in the very next year. This crossover is being sold in Japan and Australia as the Nissan Dualis while rest of the markets get Qashqai badge. The name of the crossover is based on the nomadic Qashqai tribe in Iran. The car falls in the segment between compact Multi-utility Vehicle (MUV) and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) that is crossover. These type of cars look like hatchback but have enormous space like an SUV. If launched in India, as speculated, the Nissan Qashqai will compete with the likes of Honda CRV and Tata Aria. The chances of launching the crossover in India become stronger, as Nissan India has recently announced launch of 9 cars in India by 2012.
